    Retirement

Hello all.  Just wanted to get on here and thank the league for everything it has done to make 20 years of ball the best ever.  I joined as a kid and now leave as an old man.  Life is cruel....LOL.

I remember hanging around this league before I was even old enough to join.  It was a social event to come to the park, sit in the bleachers, razz everyone, laughing all the time...life was easy.....good times.

For many years, this league was our source of entertainment.  If you weren't playing then you were up there watching.  Everyone would meet up there, have a few, then head to O'Tooles for more.  Then on to Steer Inn.  Can't believe they never sponsored.  Diamond 1 parking lot was our own hangout.  6 teams all standing together telling B.S. stories.

The league has changed over the years and although sad, it was a change that we all knew would come.  The addition of schools, houses, and changes to the parking lot made it clear that the best years, for me anyways, were behind.  Alot of people have passed through this league and I have never heard an unkind word about it.  Unless it was 3DB.

I do have a list of people that I wish I had of played with over the years.  No offense to anyone, but it is for old vets only.  Here it goes.  The Buckster, Ricky Berridge, Andy Boruszok, The Kid, Daryl Goddard, Chick, Dan C, Davey T, and Lester.  It is amazing to even me how Bob Barton and I  also were never on the same squad.  Saved me a criminal record.  Just kidding Bob. It was in my contract.

I also have a list of my favourite guys who I got to play with alot.  I'm going by memory so order means nothing. They are: Dicky, Waylen, Rob Scott, Richy P,  Danny A, Jimmy A, Carlito, Action, Finbag, Cam Googles, Mookie, Desi Mon, Joe Green, Jordan Levy, Wardo, B.Waite, Billy Lyons, Marvelous, Postie, and the ultimate teammate.....Bammer.

Here are some other names that meant alot to me and this league.  Tom Price, Tuffluck, Terry Robertson, Chris "Svenner" Kristensen, Doc, Kerny, Darby, Goldie, Treth, Dusty, Timmy Warren, B.D.(Dr. Longball), Quincy Trim, Steamer, Critter, Saulsbery Steak, Kevy Mac, Big Daddy, Rodge Rumble, GOOB, Rob Jones, Rob Cole, Andy Dalt, Gord "Dream" Weaver, Spike, Timmy "Eggs, Hollywood" Lawler, Palmjob, The Rocks, Matt B, Ninja, Gary" Wild Thing" Godwin, Carm, Frank"the Kak" Verbanak, and all the brothers of the Andersons, Garbes, Pardettis, Ciaravellas, Coopers, Vietchs, Kennys, Colatostis, Freedmans and the Hooks.

Anyways, the league is in good hands.  It was a great place to grow up (if I did) and old (which I did).  Lots of great friends and memories came from this league.  Thanks for the ride. Cheers.

    Re: Retirement

I will be following up with a more detailed response worthy of this very important mesage...

This is some deep stuff right here, and though I am saddened by the news - in true Reaper fashion, you are still able to make me laugh out loud.

My RHMRBL brethren - I'm thinking the mother of all retirement parties in light of all this...let's get the dialogue going.

Your a mentor & leader to many my good man, more than you might even know.  One in a milllion you are Dave...

    ALL HAIL THA GUV'NAH!!!

    Dave,

Thanks for all the memories.  Being on your team in my rookie year made me come back (and many more rookies I'm sure).  You truly embody what this league is about, good times and good ball.  We're going to miss you on and off the field.  But hopefully not to much (because will be around), you know you can always dip in my cooler.

    Cheers,

    DARBY

    Re: Retirement

Had to write this again...grammar fixed...

Sent a personal message already to Dave, so my bit is said.

As mentioned, the man can never be replaced, but his story is (justafiably so) the very stuff of legends...and you can bet your azz that legend of the "Mighty Reaper" will carry on strong.

And it should go without saying that the "open cooler" rule applies to EVERYONE should the Guv'nah ever  need to "freshin' iz drink"

Can I get a witness up in here???

Echoing Moncayo's words... You made my rookie year something to remember. I wish i had come earlier to the league as i would have loved to play with/ or against (that's trouble) you a couple more years. As, for the beers.... well.... i think that you are forever entitiled to drink my beer, as i have helped clean out your basement stash a couple times over the past year.

You were a great teammate, and are an even better friend. I hope to be around for the day that the 3 boys want to play, so i can 'show'em the way' was you did with me hehe. I have large shoes to fill with the passing of the torch and the title of R.I.T... faaaaaacccckkk lol. Thanks for everything buddy!
