League Legend - Daryle Godard

, Monday July 16, 2018

The Hall Of Fame is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon an RHMRBL player. In 2004 Daryle Godard was given that honor, and today is our focus as a League Legend.

After spending nearly 25 years in our league, family and distance have kept this mega star from continuing to play. Daryle was an old school player that broke into the league at a very young age. He played with most of our legends, and many of our current stars. Godard wasn’t a flashy player, never outspoken, always a class act, and played the game with respect and grit. On the mound he posted a 40-11 record, cementing himself as one of the best to ever pitch. He took home a Pitcher Of The Year Award and 2 playoff pitcher titles en route to 4 championships.

What made Daryle so special was his ability to play anywhere and everywhere. Early on in his career “DG” was a top Short Stop and Third Baseman when he wasn’t ‘chucking’. He was also considered a top catcher too! He was a top draft pick due to his versatility-playing all and any of the 9 positions.

Godard was a consummate professional-an unselfish hitter that could manufacture runs, move runners into position, hit with power when necessary, and hit for average too. There are very few players that possess the arsenal of weaponry that Godard has.

A superior teammate, Daryle would always be partying in the lot until the end. His quiet demeanor and high baseball IQ made him a threat from any side of the diamond.

We never know what the future holds, but it’s undoubtedly true that DG’s presence is sorely missed. A true League Legend, we’re so proud of all this Star has done to add to our tapestry and history.
