2019 President's Letter

, Monday December 10, 2018

Dear RHMRBL members,

The executive has convened and plans are now in motion to get the ball rolling for the 2019 season. The 35th season for the RHMRBL is poised to be the best one yet, filled with good baseball, good friends and good laughs. We have some great events to look forward to in 2019 such as: Live Draft Day @ Wegz, Spring Training Tournament, All-star game (with some potential special guests), and a new and improved league banquet/awards dinner. Some other improvements to look forward to in 2019 include: new and improved MLB pro spec baseballs for all games this season, new rules and processes in place to increase the pace of play, new league awards, increased league talent level with some legendary returns/additions, winter workouts/social events all off-season, and much more which we will share at a later date!

Registration for the 2019 season will open on December 15th, 2018 and all members will receive an email reminder once the registration page is officially open. Although league expenses for things such as permits, umpires, baseballs, and more have increased this year, we have worked hard to revise the budget and can announce that our league fee of $450 will remain unchanged for the 2019 season. Please note that if you are not registered by 11:59pm on February 28th, 2019 you will be ineligible to play at any time during the 2019 season (NO EXCEPTIONS). Full payment of registration and the signed waiver are also required by February 28th, 2019 in order to be included in the 2019 RHMRBL Live Draft @ WEGZ.

Once again for this season, we will be offering a lower cost option for members and rookies who wish to be a part of our "SV/RT" replacement program. Both league members and rookies will now have the option to be a part of this list of players, who will be called upon when a team is short-handed. This option will cost $150 and will include a generic RHMRBL jersey, but no guarantee of the amount of games you will play (Replacement cost minus jersey cost will be reimbursed if you don't play any games in 2019). This option is great if you cannot commit to a full season, but are looking to stay active and play an estimated 2-5 games this summer. If you are interested in this option, please contact the executive for all the details ASAP.

RHMRBL will once again be playing a 24-game schedule for the 2019 season, as well as a Spring Training Tournament, All-Star Game, and 3-round playoff format. In the Playoffs, we will follow the 2018 format where the top two teams overall will receive the bye and the four remaining teams will play each other in a Wild Card Series. The winners of the WC series will then play the top two teams and the winners will face off in the Championship Series for the 2019 Reaper Cup.

I am excited about the changes we have made and the new things we have in-store for the membership this year and you should be too! This league means a lot to our entire executive and our #1 goal for the 2019 season is to once again make the RHMRBL the best league in the GTA!

A list of dates and events will be out early in the New Year to give you ample time to schedule your summer plans, and details will be posted on RHMRBL.com and the RHMRBL Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/rhmrbl/), so make sure you check back often for any updates this off-season. Our website/social will be updated very frequently for the 2019 season, with fresh player content, milestones, up-to-date stats/standings, sponsor showcases, and much more.

As usual if you have any comments and/or concerns or you would like to be a 2019 sponsor, you can contact me anytime. There are many different sponsorship levels and ways you can help, so please let us know if you are interested in any way and help make the 2019 season one to remember!
