Games Recap - End of May

Martin OBrien, Thursday June 5, 2025

Marlins v Red Sox

The Red Sox would take game 1 of the series on the backs of strong pitching performances from Ryan Arcuri and Brock Wilimek. Going into the 6th, the Marlins would have #1 overall pick, Cole Bettiol take the mound, with the Red Sox running up the score. The Marlins would see some solid offensive performances from Nick Polito and Ben Ceolin, hitting a homer and double respectively.

In game 2, the Marlins would answer back in kind as they jumped all over Red Sox pitcher, Aaron Sosa early. Their offence would be highlighted by a 4 RBI day for Ryan Baxter, as well as rookies Nicolas Salib and Karl Martineau putting up 5 hits between the two. Martin O’Brien would hold the Red Sox to just three runs over 6 innings, with Ryan Baxter coming in to close out a well earned win for the fish.

Orioles v Cards

Game 1 of the series would feature a pitcher’s duel for both teams. Jeff Walsh would only give up 4 runs over 6 frames, with flame throwing Conner Stevenson coming in to close up the game. The defence would feature All Star catcher, Afsheen Taheri throwing out Alim Manji while also going 3/4 at the plate. The Orioles would ultimately win the battle, with Chris MacLean sealing it with a caught ball in the outfield.

Game 2 would feature a good pitching duel between Chris MacLean and Jordan Lipson. The Cardinals would take advantage of a bat around inning to take the lead. The Orioles would try and claw back, showing good fight until the end but ultimately coming up short against the Cardinals onslaught offence.

Angels v Blue Jays

Tony Minakakis would toe the rubber against the Jays’ combo of Jordan Winch and Mitch Sadofsky. Both sets of pitchers would throw gems, keep the game within 1 run until the 8th inning.

The stars of the game would be the battery of Minakakis and Paul So, holding the Jays to just 3 runs over the entire game, while both contributing at the plate to give the Angels wings and win the game against the flightless Blue Jays.
