It’s that time of year when we come together to celebrate our league All Stars! For their efforts on offence, defence, pitching, and being recognized as a top rookie this year, let’s take a look at some of the players who have earned their All Star nod from the Reds and Giants!
Top Offensive All Stars: Anwar Khan and Tal Grossman
The RBI King is back at it again, as Anwar Khan once again finds himself at the top of the RBI board in 2024. The Giants have formed around Anwar’s leadership to jump into being one of the top teams this year at mid season. His want to make his teammates comfortable has allowed him to take a step forward at the dish, capitalizing on every opportunity to score runs he’s had.
Who is a tougher out than Tal Grossman? I’ll wait. The perennial MVP candidate is one against terrorizing any pitcher who dares cross his path. Currently sporting an average over .600 and outpacing everyone in OBP, Tal has been the driving force to the Reds offence. His team looks to his competitive nature and leadership in the leadoff spot to help dominate the competition.
Top Defensive All Stars: Sam Kadish and Cosmo Ferraro
It’s always nice to know a ball is gonna be caught. Whether that be in the outfield or behind the dish, Sam Kadish has been that man for the Giants. For a team so dominant on offence it has been Kadish who brings a steady presence to his team whoever he takes the field. The Giants will be leaning on his ability to make the plays come playoffs.
Cosmo Ferraro may be the steal of the draft. A certified Old Glove candidate, he’s put on a defensive clinic every time he’s played this season. Truly amongst the league’s best, it’s been his up the middle defensive ability that has helped the Reds to a top seed in 2024.
Top Pitching All Stars: Josh Kiner and Chris MacLean
Josh surely does put the “K” in Kiner. A clear candidate for the Marv Weiman award, Kiner currently leads the league in wins while absolutely dominating opponents who step up to the plate. His imposing presence and calm demeanour have kept the Reds in many a game and helped propel them to the top so far!
Youth is a great thing to have on your side. And current innings leader, Chris MacLean has been pitching at a top level all season thanks to it! An absolute bulldog, Chris has stepped up anytime the Giants have needed in order to secure wins for his team behind their offence. They’ll need him come playoffs to steady the rotation for what they hope to be a long September.
Top Rookie All Stars: Aaron Sosa and Jake McGrath
Trying to steal second? No you’re not. You’re already out.
Aaron Sosa has taken the league by storm with his incredible play behind the plate, alongside his strong bat and solid pitching efforts. The Reds secured an absolute stud in Sosa and will be leaning on him to deliver on both sides of the ball as the season continues.
The youngest player in the league came in with a fire, delivering top end performance on the mound and on the diamond! McGrath has been an absolute spark plug for the Giants, offering them the energy they’ve needed to come together and win as the season progresses.
Team MVP Picks: Conner Stevenson and Josh Kiner
Pitchers, do yourselves a favour and just accept the ball is going over 400 feet when Conner Stevenson comes to the plate. The titan among Giants has made his return to RHMRBL known, swatting close to double digit home runs already half way through the year. The guy rolls out of bed ready to deposit balls into the Diamond 7 parking lot, and as it stands there is no one better in the power department than MVP pick and All Star, Conner Stevenson.
Josh Kiner finds his way onto the All Star list again, piggybacked by his incredible performance on the mound and at the plate! The league leader in pitching wins just go happens to also be among the league’s best bats, currently second in RBI behind fellow All Star, Anwar Khan. Kiner is the total package and well deserving of his MVP pick and All Star selection.
