All Stars: Pirates and Dodgers

Martin OBrien, Monday August 19, 2024

It’s that time of year when we come together to celebrate our league All Stars! For their efforts on offence, defence, pitching, and being recognized as a top rookie this year, let’s take a look at some of the players who have earned their All Star nod from the Pirates and Dodgers!

Top Offensive All Stars: Rick Berridge and Afsheen Taheri

Pirates Co-Captain, Rick Berridge has yet to show any signs of slowing down! Hitting 2 home runs this season, alongside putting up an OPS north of 1.200, he’s been an absolute force at the top of the Pirates lineup. He’ll look to carry his strong bat into the playoffs as he looks to bring his team a Reaper Cup!

He does it all with a wood bat folks! Afsheen Taheri’s monster season at the plate is well deserving of an All Star nod! The catcher has been key to the Dodgers’ offensive approach this year, being a hit and on base machine for in that stacked lineup! Sporting an OPS over 1.100, he’s been everything his team has needed on their way into the playoffs!

Top Defensive All Stars: Jordan Levy and Corey Teitlebaum

Whenever a team plays against Jordan Levy, they immediately know they can’t afford to hit the ball to the left side of the infield. Nothing gets past the stone wall that is Jordan Levy, and the fact he makes it look so easy too is what truly stands out! His sure-handed glove will be a boon to the Pirates come playoffs!

Versatile defence is so vital at The Green, and Corey Teitlebaum has delivered solid performances every time he hits the field. Pitchers love knowing a guy will make the plays and Corey has yet to let his team down in that department! He’ll look to keep up the high level defence come playoffs!

Top Pitching All Stars: Barry Lexchin and Mitch Sadofsky

Barry Lexchin is the innings eater a team leans on in a long season, and the Pirates have leaned on Lexchin to deliver solid performance after solid performance on his way to securing 5 wins on the year while also being among the league leaders in innings pitched! A well deserving All-Star, Lexchin will definitely be the anchor in the rotation the Pirates need on their quest to the Cup!

The fire baller is back with a vengeance. Mitch Sadofsky has found his arsenal again on his way to delivering elite pitching for the Dodgers this season. Among the league leaders in innings pitched and strikeouts, Mitch has once again reclaimed his elite status on the mound in his All Star campaign. The Dodgers ace will look to help his team secure a Reaper this season!

Top Rookie All Stars: Ryan Arcuri and Cole Bettiol

A hot stick and arm are hard to come by, especially in the rookie class, but the Pirates have struck gold with Ryan Arcuri this season! Putting together an elite campaign with an OPS just under 1.000 and 4 wins on the mound, Arcuri has been the X factor in the Pirates’ success this season!

From the moment he stepped foot on the Green, Cole Bettiol has been one of the best players in RHMRBL. The Rookie has done it all for the Dodgers with an elite bat, strong pitching, and incredible up-the-middle defence. His early success in the league will translate well to a long and strong career, but for now he looks to help his team win in September!

Team MVP Picks: Rick Berridge and Cole Bettiol

Rick Berridge returns to the write up as his team’s pick for MVP thus far into the season! Catching, playing the infield and outfield, and being an absolute monster at the plate has all accumulated in a well deserved MVP nod for a dominant Pirates team!

Cole Bettiol also returns to the write up as his team’s MVP pick! The Rookie has been outstanding all season in every position he’s been put into. A true competitor, it’s hard to argue his overall impact to the Dodgers’ season.
